Prospector: How the Bot Picks the Coin to Trade

Choosing the right coin is half the result. Prospector exists so you do not have to understand every coin: it does the sifting and hands you only what matches your profile, the way we would do by hand.
What Prospector evaluates
- Payment history: how many payments in a row the coin has had in your favor, and whether there were zero or negative payments.
- Volume: liquidity on both exchanges, to get in and out without slippage.
- Price range and 24-hour change: coins that move too much raise the liquidation risk.
- Correlation with BTC: coins closely tied to BTC may move together and increase risk in a broad sell-off.
- Price difference between exchanges: to avoid data with prices that diverge too much.
Profiles: conservative, standard and aggressive
Each profile sets how strict these filters are. Conservative requires more history, less price change and lower correlation. Aggressive accepts more risk in exchange for more opportunities. You choose the profile, and you can adjust the filters individually in the setup.
Why this protects you
A high funding rate with no history is the most common trap. Prospector reduces this risk, but does not eliminate it. See high funding rate: opportunity or trap.
When the strategy runs automatically, the bot only enters what Prospector approved. This takes impulsive decisions out of the picture.
Prospector and your minimum profit
Beyond the quality filter, the bot only enters if the expected net profit, after fees and spread, is higher than the minimum you set. The two filters work together: one checks whether the coin is good, the other whether the numbers add up. See how to calculate funding rate profit and how the bot works.
Example of a Prospector decision
A coin shows up with a 0.08% funding rate. Prospector checks: a history of 12 payments in a row in your favor, $300K volume on one exchange and $500K on the other, a 24-hour change of 6% and a 35% correlation with BTC. On the standard profile, it passes. Another coin has a higher funding rate, but only 2 payments of history and $20K volume: it is rejected.
Adjusting the filters
If you want more opportunities, use a more flexible profile or loosen a specific filter. If you want more safety, do the opposite. Note the results of each adjustment to understand its effect. Avoid changing everything at once.
