MEXC shows up a lot on the opportunity cards because it lists many coins. For anyone who wants to use a bot, the question is always the same: does the futures API work for placing orders? Here is what to look at.

The futures API question

For a period, MEXC blocked sending futures orders through its API, allowing data queries only. This kind of rule can change, so always check the official MEXC documentation and the current status before relying on the API.

On Multi Arbitrage, MEXC appears on the cards and in Prospector, and automated trading on it is in the testing phase. It is not yet released to customers in general.

What to check on the account

  • Hedge mode: MEXC requires two-way positions to hold a long and a short on the same coin.
  • Quantity in contracts: size is given in contracts, with a different value per contract for each coin.
  • Isolated margin: set it per coin before opening.
  • Balance in the futures wallet: separate from the spot balance.
  • API key with futures permission and without withdrawals.

When MEXC is useful

Even without automated trading, MEXC data helps you find combinations with other exchanges. See how to compare funding rates between exchanges. If you would like to open an account to follow it, use the link Open a MEXC account, at no additional cost.

Precautions

New integrations need real validation before being released for customers’ money. So avoid depending on an exchange that is still in testing, and start with the ones already validated. See the list in which exchanges to use.

How to follow the status

Check on the dashboard which exchanges are marked as validated for automated trading and which are in testing. For MEXC, while it is in testing, use the data to follow opportunities and trade on the validated exchanges.

What is different about MEXC

  • Many coins listed, including smaller ones, which calls for attention to volume.
  • Its own contract size per coin.
  • Position mode rules that must be set correctly on the account.
  • API documentation that changes over time.
